The three regions Crete, North Aegean and South Aegean covered by the Regional Operational Programme of Crete and the Aegean Islands have a rich environment and tourist resources in order to attract high quality tourism, important infrastructure for international connections and prominent research centres and universities.

Therefore, within the 2007-2013 period, the design of the ROP for projects and aids to the region aims to:

• diversify the economic base of the tourism sector,
• provide better infrastructure,
• promote sustainable development,
• the provision of environmental infrastructure, nature protection and proper management of natural resources, 5. utilize the natural and cultural heritage
• promote digital convergence and entrepreneurship and
• combat intraregional disparities.

The program has a budget of 1.325 billion €.

The present website aims to provide information for each person on the above actions as well as of the procedures and the implementation progress of the ROP of Crete - Aegean Islands.
