The Intermediate Managing Authority (IMA) of the North Aegean Region was set up with the Joint Ministerial Decision 9774/EYS/1128/29-2-2008 of the Ministers of Interior and Economy and Finance (FEK 457/B/17-3-2008) and is intended to manage actions of the Operational Programme of "Crete & the Aegean Islands, 2007-2013", which are within the administrative boundaries of the North Aegean Region.

IMA of North Aegean has, among others, the following responsibilities per Unit:

Unit A: Planning and Evaluation
Unit B: Monitoring and Management of Acts
Unit C: On-site verifications
Unit D: Planning - Support
